w(ISTERIA) 2020

Piccoli elementi di varia natura — provenienti da esperienze del passato e del presente — vengono tenuti insieme attraverso il gesto dell’attorcigliare: un movimento che avvolge, protegge e lega. Mediante questo gesto, la maglia in titanio che compone la serie w(Isteria), si trasforma da materia malleabile a struttura solida, ancorandosi saldamente a ciò che contiene.

Il titolo deriva dalla definizione botanica della pianta del glicine: Wisteria, che si serve di ogni supporto disponibile nelle sue vicinanze per avvolgerlo, utilizzarlo e, infine, inglobarlo nella propria struttura.

"Isteria" è un termine medico ormai obsoleto, storicamente attribuito soprattutto al genere femminile. In origine indicava disturbi psichici accompagnati da sintomi fisici, e deriva dal termine greco hystéra (utero).—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

In the w(Hysteria) series, small elements of various kinds — drawn from past and present experiences — are held together by the act of wrapping: a gesture that binds, protects, and connects.
The metallic mesh that composes the works transforms through this twisting motion — from a malleable material into a solid structure, firmly anchored to what it encloses.

The title of the series comes from the botanical definition of the Wisteria plant.
This plant, so common in our landscape and extraordinarily resilient, uses any available support nearby to cling to, exploit, and eventually incorporate into its own structure.

“Hysteria” is now an obsolete medical term, historically attributed primarily to women. Originally, it referred to psychological disorders with physical symptoms, and derives from the Greek word hystéra (uterus).
